Portrait of Prashant Shah

In his own words

I was born and raised in India, where I learned early that progress is rarely handed to us—it is built through discipline, education, resilience, and service. I came to the United States in 2001 with ambition, but without a predetermined roadmap for where the journey would take me.

Two days after the attacks of September 11, I volunteered to join the United States Marine Corps. I felt a responsibility to serve the country that had given me an opportunity to build a new life. Over eight years in the Marines, including operational experience connected to 14 countries including Iraq, Afghanistan, and Pakistan, I learned lessons that continue to guide me: prepare thoroughly, remain calm under pressure, take care of your people, and never ask your team to carry a burden you are unwilling to carry yourself.

Following a medical discharge in 2009, I faced one of the hardest transitions of my life. Moving from military service into corporate America meant learning an entirely different language, culture, and definition of success. I returned to New Jersey, worked overnight unloading trucks at Target, and completed my bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice. That job was not a step backward—it became the beginning of a new mission.

I progressed from an overnight unloader to a sales-floor executive and then a senior logistics executive. My career subsequently took me through leadership roles at Macy’s, Bed Bath & Beyond, Drive DeVilbiss Healthcare, LaserShip, Casper, SwagUp, BDA, and Maersk. Along the way, I have led large organizations, managed complex transformations, scaled high-growth operations, and helped connect supply-chain strategy with customer experience and profitable growth.

Today, I lead North American e-commerce for Maersk. My work spans parcel delivery, fulfillment, transportation, technology, customer experience, and commercial performance. I believe supply chains are no longer simply operational cost centers. When properly connected, they become engines for intelligence, growth, resilience, and customer loyalty.

I am also a co-author of The 70/20/10 Rule: Key Strategies in Business Landscape. The book reflects one of my strongest leadership beliefs: sustainable performance comes from investing first in people, then in clear processes, and finally in technology that enables both.

What drives me today is the opportunity to build organizations that perform at a high level without losing their humanity. I want to develop leaders, simplify complexity, create opportunities for others, and leave every team and organization stronger than I found it.

Outside of work, I am a husband and father of two. My family keeps me grounded and reminds me that leadership is ultimately about the example we set, the people we help, and the legacy we leave behind.
